Wednesday, April 29, 2020, from 1 to 3 pm, the University of Maine will be hosting a Zoom webinar. This webinar is for the Maine business community, policymakers, attorneys, healthcare providers, and other members of the public interested in learning about topics dealing with Artificial Intelligence. Four topics will be discussed during this webinar which are the following:
- Advances in Artificial Intelligence which will be moderated by Terry Yoo, Associate Professor of Computer Science at UMaine. Those discussing the topic will be Roy Turner, Associate Professor of Computer Science at UMaine, Salimeh Yasaei Sekeh, Assistant Professor in Computer Science at UMaine, and Carla Brodley, Dean of Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern.
- Applications of AI in Business, Industry, Government, Healthcare, and Environment which will be moderated by Ali Abedi, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Assistant Vice President of Research at UMaine. Those discussing the topic will be Kay Aikin, co-founder of Introspective Systems, Sepideh Ghanavati, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at UMaine, Yonggang “Tim” Lu, Harold Alfond Associate Professor of Business Analytics, Maine Business School, and Auroop Ganguly, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Director of the Sustainability and Data Science Laboratory at Northeastern.
- Education and Workforce Development which will be moderated by Penny Rheingans, Director of the School of Computing and Information Science at UMaine. Those discussing the topic will be Sharmila Mukhopadhyay, Director of the Frontier Institute for Research in Sensor Technologies at UMaine, Walter Rawle, Senior Principal Systems Engineer and General Dynamics, and Jason Judd, Executive Director of Education at UMaine.
- Social, Ethical, Policy, and Legan Considerations which will be moderated by Shaleen Jain, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UMaine. Those discussing the topic will be Jim Isaak, former President of IEEE Computer Society, Harlan Onsrud, Professor of Spatial Informatics at UMaine, and Peter Guffin, Co-Director of the Information Privacy Program University of Maine School of Law.
Each topic will be covered by a panel of experts, with opportunities for Q&A.
